What is an engineer?

Did you know that engineers help to create clean energy that is better for our planet by designing more efficient electric cars of the future.

Join CSA Catapult  at Cardiff Science Festival to learn how we’re working together to make electric cars a reality for everyone.

First, you’ll discover how to become an engineer from CSA Catapult & BMW Interns and the benefits that going electric bring to our society, as well as some of the technology that makes electric cars possible. We’ll talk about a current project, @FutureBEV and our presenters will share what it’s like to be an engineer in real life!

Then, we’re all going to put our heads together to design an electric car of the future! Imagination knows no bounds and we’re looking forward to hearing your ideas. The car can be as innovative or technical as you like! (Or both!)

  • Will the car have lasers? Will it be powered by solar panels? What will the motor be made from?
  • What would your ideal car be able to do? How will the car help the environment? Will it charge your phone in seconds?
  • What does the car look like?

We look forward to seeing you at the festival!

Presenters:

Abigail Holmes – High Performance Powertrain Components Intern, BMW

Sharon Kudenko – Photonics Intern, CSA Catapult

Andrew Thomas – Advanced Packaging Intern, CSA Catapult
