CSA Catapult Welcomes New Centre Lead for Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centre

Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult and the central Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centres (DER-IC) are pleased to welcome Paul Jarvie as Centre Lead for DER-IC – South West and Wales.

Paul brings with him wide-ranging experience in electronics gained from well-known organisations such as NEC Semiconductors, NXP Semiconductors, TechWorks and AESIN. Paul joined TechWorks in 2005 and led the Electronic Product Design/Test and Power Electronics Networks for over seven years. Paul became director of AESIN (Automotive Electronics Systems Innovation Network) in 2015, engaging the full automotive electronics supply chain while co-chairing SEMI GAAC (Global Automotive Advisory Council) with Volkswagen. Paul has a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of the West of Scotland.

DER-IC – South West and Wales is one of four regional centres located around the UK. Each centre provides high-level expertise and the latest equipment in the critical elements of PEMD supply chain required for electrification across multiple sectors such as Aerospace, Marine and Automotive. DER-IC – South West and Wales focuses on developing supply chain capability and competence for the underpinning of power electronics components and materials, towards UK net zero goals.

The centre is hosted by CSA Catapult and draws on the Catapult’s expertise in compound semiconductor technologies and applications particularly from its proven track record in power electronics and advanced packaging and its state-of-the-art equipment and laboratories.

DER-IC Chair, Professor Matt Boyle OBE said:

His experience at AESIN and his international network are a great asset to the DER Challenge. Paul was a great contributor to the development of the challenge and welcome his arrival in Wales.”
